SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER - Homey stuff

When I moved into my apartment, nearly three years ago, I bought some couches from IKEA that have removable covers.  I got a set of unbleached cotton covers for them, but didn't like how they looked against my (hideous) light teal carpet and the color of my walls - they just looked unfinished.  So I went back and got some black ones.  I liked them much better.  At the time, I got some throw pillows from Kmart (I think) - cheap ones that didn't look good very long.  Last year I invested in some good feather throw pillows - again from IKEA, but their selection of covers didn't really match my decor at all.  The ones I got were very cute, and I like them a lot, but they just don't quite match the rest of my furniture.

So, I concevied a plan.  I would dye the aforementioned unbleached cotton couch covers a darker shade - dark tan or brown - to match the new throw pillows.  I bought the dye and dug the plain covers out of storage.  That was last year sometime.  Finally, in September, thanks to my awesome sis-in-law Amy for allowing me to use her washing machine, I did the dye.  I really like the color they turned out.  Unfortunately, when I put them on my couches, I didn't like the overall effect.  I liked the black ones better!

So, I conceived another plan.  I would buy some fabric and make new covers for my throw pillows.  Ta-dah!

An unanticipated bonus was that the dark cream color in the new fabric exactly matches the paint color of my desk and my puzzle table!

While I was at it, I also made a matching cover for the body pillow I've been using as a cushion on my bench.  Now I think I need to paint the bench black... or maybe black and dark cream?  What do you think?

Walk North down that little street just East of your house, and keep going - across the lawn at the end. When you get to the fence, turn left (West) and follow the fence until it ends. Then turn right (North again) and push through the bushes. Then you'll be at the steps that go down into the basement where I live.

I hear you're the RS pres in my Uncle John's ward... I was going to suggest that you come to the family ward, but not if you get to have John as your bishop. Lucky!

I think maybe a combination, like your puzzle table: black horizontal surfaces and cream on the verticals, or vice versa. I also think (still) that a light moss-colored or sage carpet would blend in beautifully. Oh well.
