I'm warning you now, it won't be very interesting to anyone who doesn't frequent the Logan Library - but since I spend approximately half my waking hours there, it's interesting to me, so live with it. :-)
I'm starting to take some pictures to show the remodeling that is happening in what was the staff area and will become an expanded children's area. I wish I'd started taking pictures earlier in the process, but better late than never, right?
So, without further ado...
This is what the general public sees when they come into the library. These temporary plastic walls are approximately where the holiday collection and the Children's Librarian's office used to be.
This set shows what the old staff area looked like after all the walls were removed - no more cubicles, staff room, storage room, or offices. (Some of the offices are still there, and a storage closet that was halved in size, but I didn't take pictures of them.)
This set shows the newly painted walls - no more plain boring old gray. Now the main color is ... well ok, it's gray, but it's a blue-gray instead of a gray-gray. And some of the walls will be plum (not purple) and some a dark teal.
This set shows the beginning of the ceiling installation, which turned out to be a bigger project than anticipated, since after all the walls were removed it became apparent that previously, each room had a different ceiling height. Go figure.
That's all so far. I'll post more after the ceiling is fully installed, and the carpet laid. Then some of the great book migration that will follow. I'll also post some pictures of the temporary new young adult area. More on that later.
